Bloggers Made Me Buy It!

I see so many blog posts, Instagram posts and tweets raving about products and it really does suck me in. Here are some of the products and brands that bloggers have influenced me to buy and my thoughts on them!

Milani– I picked up 4 items when I first ordered from Milani and I’m so glad I listened to those who raved about them because now I do too! I don’t use them all as much as I’d like just purely because I have so much makeup but I definitely need to more often, especially the baked blusher in Luminuso!

Freedom Primer Water- I’ve been testing this out for about 4 weeks now and its fair to say I’m in love! Again theres a separate review up here but all I can say now is you need to go and pick one up for yourself!

Primark Lip Liner & Liquid Lipstick- I’m not going to talk about these too much because theres a separate review up here but oh my god I love these! I’m so glad I picked these up and now I know they’re amazing I can go and get every colour and it wont break the bank!

Charlotte Tillbury lipstick- Probably one of the most popular blogger favourites! I hated this at first but the more I used it the more I fell in love. It feels so luxurious and the shade is a gorgeous light glossy nude. I 100% need to try more of her lipsticks!

UD x Gwen- Sadly this is one that’s a huge regret and I wish I’d off not seen so many people talking about this. I didn’t need and it to be honest I never ever use it. I don’t like the shades and they don’t really suit me either. Such a waste of money!

Products worth the hype

I buy so much make up and a lot of the time its products that have been heavily advertised and talked about in the beauty community, both on blog posts and YouTube. However there's nothing worse than when you pay a lot for something that's quite frankly rubbish.

Here are some of my favourite products that I genuinely do believe are worth the purchase.

Urban Decay Naked 2

I really love Urban Decay shadows and think they really are such a nice product to work with. The reason I think this palette is worth the hype is not only because of the amazing quality and pigmentation of the shaddows but also because you're really getting a lot for your money. These eyeshadows never seem to hit pan either, apart from that sneaky Booty call so your going to have this for quite some time. You can also create so many different looks and there is something for everyone with this.

MAC Fix +

You can read my post I did about this here. This has so many purposes and can be used for any of your make up needs!

MAC Lipsticks

These are so worth the money; the colour selection is incredible and again has something for everyone.

MAC Soft and Gentle Highlighter

Commonly in my monthly favourites this will always be a repurchase. The glitter is just enough and isn't chunky and can be used on the brow bone, inner eye corner or even as an eyeshadow! This is also a product that will last you forever.

Roller Lash Mascara

There's a reason as to why everyone uses this, it is amazing! You wouldn't be disappointed if you purchased this because it gives length and lift like no other mascara. Plus the packaging is just too cute!

Mary-Lou Manizer Highlighter

This is more of a champagne colour compared to the MAC one which is gold. I'm not saying you need both but this is just as stunning. You really only need the tiniest bit and this too can be used as eyeshaddow!

Dip Brow Pomade

An eyebrow game changer. This gives such a prominent sleek look and really makes your eyebrows on point! (Laughs) With this less is more hence why I've included a picture to show how much I've used over the many months I've been using this.

MAC in comparison to Mary-Lou

Do you agree? Which products do you think are worth it?

Urban Decay Lipsticks

Urban Decay, for me is a brand that I love but I don't have many of their products. Actually thinking about it I've only tried the Naked 2 palette and their setting sprays! I'm not sure why I actually bought  these but I'm honestly so glad I did, they're amazing!

I firstly picked up the Sheer lipstick in the shade Liar which is a super glossy pinky nude colour. It's not sticky and just glides on the lips so smoothly. This doesn't stick to all the cracks in your lips either which I was sort of expecting it to do. This is such a me colour as its perfect for every day wear. It looks great on its own or paired with a lip liner.

Seen as though I loved it so much I wanted to get another lipstick from Urban Decay, this time I opted for the regular Revolution Lipstick and I got the shade Naked. I didn't know what to expect with the formulation for this, whether it would be matte or more of a satin finish. Its quite similar to the Sheer lipstick but is just a little more pigmented. This colour is extremely similar to Faux from MAC and has that element of a bubblegum pink colour in it. This is still super glossy which I really like however this sadly does stick to the cracks on your lips but not too much so its not too noticeable.

Lastly lets talk about the packaging and I absolutely love the packaging for these lipsticks! I like the shade of the actual lipstick and how its like the YSL ones. The only thing is I keep putting the lid on and accidental indenting the lipstick! I love how the different lipsticks come in different coloured packing- sheer being purple and the original revolution being gun mental grey. This makes it easy to tell them apart, especially if you had a wide collection of them.

Have you ever tried Urban Decay lipsticks?

Cheap Treat Tuesday!

While on the hunt for some new make up to try I came across a bunch of Urban Decay Cream shadows, they don't actually sell these any more but never the less I desperately wanted to try them!

There were a few colours that looked gorgeous but I only wanted to get one for now- in case I didn't like the formula or what not. I picked the shade 'Rehab' but 'Mushroom' looked pretty similar to it.

It arrived within 2 days which I was incredibly pleased with and came in all its original packaging. It has a doffer applicator which dispenses just the right amount of product as the consistency is a little thick with it being a cream. The colour itself is a cool tone brown which has sort of a silver sheen to it in the light. If you pair this with one of the Urban Decay Primer Potions its like a match made in heaven. I've been wearing this combo with just a bit of mascara and it makes my eyes pop. It's such a versatile shade that can be worn day or night. The shadow also sets very quickly and doesn't crease at all, even without primer.

I spread this on my lids with the applicator and then blend it out with my fingers as it gives much more of a natural, not harsh look. I picked this up off eBay for £3.

A product I regret - Urban Decay lip primer potion

Sadly there's always something in a girls make up collection that usually is a regret, this is mine. Make up isn't cheap and when you are really disappointed by a product its quite a kick in the stomach when you cant or don't want to use it again.

This was in a fall collection I believe and was £13. All my reasons as to why this product just isn't for me goes against the entire description of the product.

"Our invisible primer lays a silky foundation for your favourite lipstick or gloss. Colour is truer, applies smoother, lasts longer, and will not fade or feather. The easy-glide formula feels velvety-soft, without the drying feeling often associated with long-lasting lip colour."

To start with it's so unbelievably drying, that dry you physically cant apply it on your lips. It drags across, not applying any of the product. So its pretty pointless when you cant even use it to begin with. I have to really press it into my lips and I'm not going to lie, it hurts! I've read other reviews and none of them have had this problem so it leads me to think I've just got a bad one from the batch.

It does absolutely nothing, I've yet to see a difference this makes to my lipstick, if anything it makes it look even worse. My lipstick looks lovely on its own and then when I apply this beforehand it looks even sheerer and like as soon as I do anything with my lips, even speak, its going to come off. It also feels very waxy as if I've just put candle wax all over them which obviously isn't great.

When it does apply its a thick gloopy wax like consistency, making my lipstick look all clumpy. My lips are made to look very uneven and very lumpy, which is really not a good look. I honestly have nothing good to say about this product, the packaging is nothing special and it doesn't smell or taste of anything.. other than wax.  I really, wouldn't recommend this.

My top 5 highlighters

In one of my recent posts about contouring I mentioned that there would be a post dedicated to all things highlighting so here it is! With highlighting it comes hand in hand with contouring, giving that glow to your complexion and just making your make up look 100%. In this post I'm going to talk about all my favourite highlighters, both high end and drugstore!

MAC Soft and Gentle: This is just absolutely gorgeous, there aren't any other words to describe this. Its such a beautiful, pigmented powder and really gives you the glitter factor. It can be used as a subtle glow or built up for a really glittery glowing effect, great for a night out or if photos are going to be taken. I also really do think the price tag is well worth it, you get so much product for your money and it lasts forever! Definitely one for your collection.

NARS Orgasm blush: I know this is a blush but I was so disappointed when this arrived, its really not pigmented at all and takes so much effort for it to be visible on your cheeks. I didn't want to waste it so I played around and discovered this works so well as a highlighter- its really shimmery and glittery and as the pinks not very visible it doesn't matter. On the swatch that took me a good few times to build it up so don't worry it wont apply like that.

MUA Undress your skin highlighter: Bargain!! Look at the pigmentation of this beauty, I honestly cant rave about MUA enough as you all probably know! For only £1 you cant go wrong. This is more white/gold toned than the others but its perfect. I loved using this on holiday and I got so many compliments on this!

Urban Decay naked flushed: This is one of my most used palettes as its just so pigmented however the highlighter isn't one of my favourites. Its very similar to the MUA one above however takes a few goings over to build it up. Overall its a lovely colour and very handy to have 3 products in 1 if your ever travelling or need to minimise on space.

Empties ● The primer edition

Seen as though I've never done an empties post before I thought I would kick it off with a few primers I've used up recently!

(The Happy Light primer doesn't look empty but I promise it is- its just stuck to the side!)

I've been really getting into primers recently so it really didn't take me long to use these up. The Urban Decay primer potion is always a repurchase, I just find that nothing can compete with its staying power or the way it makes my eye shadow look. If you haven't tried it there's a travel size sample you can get -see my post here- and they also do it in all the shades of the primer potion (gold etc).

The Bourjois happy light primer is the best general face primer I've ever tried- just putting it out there! It does absolute wonders to my foundation and just makes it look so smooth and flawless. Its well worth the price and if you get this in a 3 for 2 or something that's when it would make most sense! I also feel this just brightens my whole complexion up and really helps with my dry patches!

Finally is the Porefessional by Benefit, something everybody loves.. except me. With me having dry skin this looks absolutely awful on me and just exaggerates all the areas I want to hide. I really hate the formula aswell, the waxy thick cream really makes me feel like I'm putting more cakeyness onto my skin before my foundation.

I'm also now trying out MAC strobe cream so I'll let you know how I get on with that!

Beauty haul!

Oops! It seems I've collected quite a few beauty products in the past few weeks so I thought what would be better than bringing them all together in a haul on a Sunday?!

I've been good recently and not splurged on much and I thought why not and started my online shopping basket..

First things first, MAC!

I really wanted to try a few different things and make my makeup collection grow, so instead of opting for eyeshadows and foundations like I usually do I picked up some general face products.

I bought these two absolutely gorgeous blushes in the shades Breezy and Springsheen(L-R). Breezy is a plum colour and nothing like I have in my collection, on the other hand Springsheen is a very sheer peachy tone; a little goes a long way as it's seriously so pigmented!

I also couldnt resist a mineralise skin finish and which other colour than soft and gentle? It's even more beautiful in person and like no highlighter I've ever seen. Like the blush a little goes a long way but you can apply more to give a more dramatic night look!

This lipstick was a spur of the moment decison and you can probably all guess what it is.. that's right velvet teddy! I really didn't think I would suit this when it first came but its surprising really wearable, sometimes I dab a little pink over just to make it more suitable for my skin colour but I'm in love!!

Finally the last MAC product I picked up was in fact the strobe cream! I felt my skin and foundation routine needed a little pick-me-up so I thought I would give this a try!

NARS is a brand I've never tried before so I thought instead of buying a Benefit box blusher like I usually do I would opt for something a little different. This is in the shade orgasm and its such a pretty colour with shimmer running through! It is smaller than I thought it would be but never the less go and try something from NARS if you haven't already.

Finally some random beauty bits! I picked up this beauty blender for just 99p from Home Bargains just to see how I got on with it as I really dont want to spend the Real Techniques prices and I love it! It makes cream contour and highlight look so flawless I really reccomend!

False eyelashes are something I never wear but I wanted to try some Red Cherry ones so I picked these up from eBay for around £1.50! And then I repurchased just a travel size of my favourite eye primer; the Urban Decay primer potion!

Thank you for reading!
