AUTUMN LIP PICKS

For me when it gets closer to autumn and everyones talking about berry and purple lips I feel quite left out because I really don't suit them at all. You'd think with me having dark hair and dark eyes I would but they literally wash me out SO much.

This is when I thought why don't I create a blog post with the autumn lip shades that I would wear and that aren't too bold yet are still bold for me.. if that makes sense?!

For me I think its a lot easier to wear a dark lip thats glossy rather than matte hence why theres only two liquid lipsticks.

Also can we just take time to really appreciate the Gingerbread and Christmas Surprise candles?? Totally getting autumnal inspired right now.

All year round I always opt for a nude lip, its goes with anything and can be worn in any season however if I do want to channel my inner vampy self then I like to build up slowly from the nudes to the more brown sort of shades.

These are my autumn lip picks and as you can see they're slightly in the middle bit of the scale, just edging on the dark berry lip everyone loves so much.

All of these ones are MAC and are all satin finishes except Whirl which is matte. All of these are so comfortable on the lips and last a decent amount of time too.

The last two are liquid lipsticks from Colour Pop so are of course matte. I don't wear these too often as they do flake off throughout the day and aren't as comfortable as a MAC satin lipstick. These are both the darkest in my collection but I think this is as dark as I suit.

What are your autumn lip picks?

Favourite DRUGSTORE Lip Options / Kate Moss Lipstick Review

For me, personally I don't really tend to bother with drugstore/ high street lip products. I'm not sure wether thats because I have FAR too many MAC lipsticks or I've just never bothered looking through all the stands.

Recently I have been taking the time to find the hidden gems and thought I'd share them with you so they don't go unnoticed any longer.

First off is the Rimmel x Kate Moss Lipstick in the shade 56 Boho Nude. I swatched this and literally couldn't get it out of my mind so had to go back for it- I really do love this. This is my first Rimmel lipstick and I'm definitely going to be trying more! The formula of this is so creamy and pigmented yet still being long lasting. What caught my eye was the actual colour of the lipstick, anyone who knows me knows that my favourite ever lipstick is MAC's Half N Half and this is pretty much an exact dupe. The great thing is this is half of the price of a MAC lipstick! The colour of the actual packaging just makes it 10x better too as its this gorgeous rosey gold colour.

I also love the Freedom Pro Melts Lipgloss in the shade D-ream which I never hear anything about! This is called a lipgloss however it dries down so I just call it a liquid lipstick. It stays all day and doesn't crack or flake off which is just a godsend if I'm at uni! The colour range of these is also amazing so if you don't like this shade I'd definitely have a look at what else they have to offer!

A new purchase of mine but definitely a key favourite is the Sleek Power Pump Lip Crayon. This is in the shade Notorious Nude and is that gorgeous pink toned nude that really suits my skin tone along with my dark hair. What I love about this is that its really creamy and pigmented and keeps my lips hydrated all day which really is a need for me. This is also a plumping product- as you could probably guess by the name! This tingles for at least 2-3 hours after application and really does give my lips a little plump. Its also worth mentioning that the smell isn't very strong either as I hate that minty sort of smell that usually comes with these sort of products!

Finally I just had to mention a Makeup Revolution product this being the Lip Lava in the shade Forgiven. This is a similar product to the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks as the applicator is the same idea. Unfortunately mine broke so I now have to apply this straight from the tube with a brush but I don't mind! What I love most about this has to be the colour! If Velvet Teddy sorta' shades are your thing then give this a go! Its a perfect peach toned nude- and did I mention its also a liquid lipstick? Its finish isn't matte but more of a hydrating demi-matte finish.

Do you have any drugstore lip recommendations?

The Perfect Primark Lip Combo

Everyone and their Mum have been talking about Primark makeup, in particular their lip products so of course I'm jumping on that band waggon.

Firstly, my local Primark doesn't have that much in terms of their PS makeup so I was quite surprised when I seen LIQUID LIPSTICKS! Yes most of them were opened and there were only three shades to choose from but I was so excited I spent literally 15-20 minutes trying to find one that was unopened.

I went with the colour 'Nude'- which I thought would be nude. If you follow me on Snapchat (thefashionwayx) then you'll of seen that I swatched this and tried it on the lips. Unfortunately it was more of a bubblegum pinky shade which was way too light for me and didn't suit my skin tone. In terms of the actual lipstick it dries fast, not fast were you can't tweak the application but fast enough were you don't have to sit and wait for it to dry. The formula of this isn't drying either and I can comfortably wear this all day unlike the NYX or Colourpop ones. The texture of this is also very thin but creamy and has no smell either.

As for the applicator which you can see below its literally the perfect size and shape. Its a hard doe foot applicator which is perfect as I personally don't like flexible wants for liquid lipstick. It dispenses just the right amount of product too meaning I don't have to double dip- perfect for a lazy girl.

The tip of the applicator also gets more narrow and pointed towards the end which makes it perfect for getting a precise application on the edges of the lips and makes it easy for getting right in the cupids bow.

I then remembered that I'd picked up one of the Lip Liners too and wondered if I could pair them together and make a better, more wearable combination. This was in the shade 'Brown' and I firstly outlined my lips and then filled them in. I'm not going to lie this was a bold, dark lip which is something that I never wear. It really reminded of MAC's Whirl so if you have that give this a go and I bet they pair perfectly together!

This applied really creamy and smooth; unlike many other budged lip liners that seem to be dry and drag along the lips. This is also sharpenable which is a huge plus! Once I apply this all over the lips I then dab the liquid lipstick over the top and blend with my fingers. It creates a gorgeous Kylie Jenner inspired look and also makes my lips appear bigger too.. huge plus!

I really love these and can't wait to try more of Primarks beauty range so if you have any recommendations then please let me know.

Products I Regret Buying

When it comes to products everyone has a set idea or thought of what it will be like and sometimes products adhere to that or even bound over your expectations, but sometimes they don't.

Barry M Afterglow Light Bronzer - Now I did actually get this free when I spent over a certain amount on Barry M but I'm just going to include it anyway. My eyes literally lit up when I seen I could also pick this up and for free too however when I actually applied it it was so orange its virtually unusable. I usually use cool tones to contour and then a warmer shade to bronze so I imagined this to be perfect but sadly its not; I think ill just have to use it as an eyeshadow to get my use out of it!

NYX HD Finishing Powder - This was one of the first things I picked up when a NYX store came to my local Boots and I was so excited to try it as I've never tried a loose powder before. I originally tried to 'bake' under my eyes using my Real Techniques Complexion Sponge however it immediately caked up and looked disgusting. Even my poor sponge looked awful and needed a good wash.

Barry M Flawless Light Reflecting Concealer - I had such high hopes for this concealer and don't get me wrong I do like it however if Id of known what it was like I wouldn't of bought it. Firstly the applicator is awful its like a brush that doesn't give you enough product and what it does give you is really sheer. If your looking for something to use day to day with not too much coverage or brightening properties then go for this. However this isn't what I was looking for.

Rimmel Provocalips Lipstick - My friend Sarah really likes these (blog here) and after spotting this shade I thought I would give it a try. Its essentially a liquid lipstick with a hydrating balm. When I first applied it I loved the colour however when it dried it looked awful; it was patchy in places and very thick in others. Even with the balm it looked shocking.

Urban Decay Lipsticks

Urban Decay, for me is a brand that I love but I don't have many of their products. Actually thinking about it I've only tried the Naked 2 palette and their setting sprays! I'm not sure why I actually bought  these but I'm honestly so glad I did, they're amazing!

I firstly picked up the Sheer lipstick in the shade Liar which is a super glossy pinky nude colour. It's not sticky and just glides on the lips so smoothly. This doesn't stick to all the cracks in your lips either which I was sort of expecting it to do. This is such a me colour as its perfect for every day wear. It looks great on its own or paired with a lip liner.

Seen as though I loved it so much I wanted to get another lipstick from Urban Decay, this time I opted for the regular Revolution Lipstick and I got the shade Naked. I didn't know what to expect with the formulation for this, whether it would be matte or more of a satin finish. Its quite similar to the Sheer lipstick but is just a little more pigmented. This colour is extremely similar to Faux from MAC and has that element of a bubblegum pink colour in it. This is still super glossy which I really like however this sadly does stick to the cracks on your lips but not too much so its not too noticeable.

Lastly lets talk about the packaging and I absolutely love the packaging for these lipsticks! I like the shade of the actual lipstick and how its like the YSL ones. The only thing is I keep putting the lid on and accidental indenting the lipstick! I love how the different lipsticks come in different coloured packing- sheer being purple and the original revolution being gun mental grey. This makes it easy to tell them apart, especially if you had a wide collection of them.

Have you ever tried Urban Decay lipsticks?

Cheap Treat Tuesday

Liquid lipsticks are all the rage recently and I wanted to try my hand at a few, after seeing a few youtubers talk about these I thought I would go to eBay and purchase some for myself.

These were 99p each so I wasn't too bothered if they weren't any good. Much to my surprise they are! I got five colours because I really couldn't choose.

I purchased mainly mauve/ pink/ nudes but then I thought having some purples in their too would be great for a bold statement lip. These are honestly so lovely to apply, they have a dofer applicator that dispenses just the right about of product. They take a few seconds to apply and then dry completely matte. The colour pay off is incredible and they are so pigmented.

I recently went out for a meal and a few drinks and the colour didn't budge, I didn't even have to re-apply. Although they dry matte they aren't really drying on the lips, they're quite smooth.

I really love these and will definitely be purchasing some more in the future!

Anastasia Beverly Hills - Cream Contour Kit

Anastasia Beverly Hills is a brand I absolutely adore.. but only own one product of. Until now! I'm more into cream products rather than powder, especially when it comes to contour so when this was first released I knew I just had to have it!

With my skin being dry I thought this would work wonders, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. Just last week I got an email from Cult Beauty letting me know this was now available through their website to buy in the UK. Just like I did with Velvet Teddy I clicked the email and bought this straight away. I thought it would sell out quite quickly so I snapped it up as fast as I could.

This came today (6/05) and I took my pictures before I tested it and couldn't wait to do the write up! When I did swatch this it wasn't as creamy as I perhaps thought however I've had a few products like it where it just takes a few uses to get them really creamy and nice to use.

When I looked at the colours, if I'm honest I didn't have a clue what half of them were for but I thought that I would try using a few how I thought first and then do a bit of research! Firstly I used Cream as a concealer, Banana as a highlighter and then Cinnamon as my contour. I found these colours worked best but if I'm having a pale day I would probably have to use Nude and Cinnamon mixed together. When I done my whole face I did notice a huge differences and I can now offically say this kit is amazing and one you need to have in your collection if you love contouring as much as I do. Prepare to see this in many more posts!

MAC lipstick haul!

After my birthday I thought I would treat myself and buy some new make up that I wouldn't usually buy myself, MAC lipsticks! I had my eye on two for a while and thought I would spread my wings and buy two that were a little more different so I could try something new!

Brave, Faux, Pure Zen and Flamingo are the ones I bought. Anything like the colour Twig is my absolute favourite colour of lipstick so I knew Brave and Faux would be so perfect for me and they are! Pure Zen is something I'd Googled a couple of times but not had my heart set on and basically I just decided to buy it on a whim. Its a nude colour so not something that's very out there but with it being quite pale its not something I'd usually wear either. Then Flamingo, wow is all I can say. I seen one swatch of this and then I was sold, its so different and I knew I had to have it!

Brave and Faux are satin finishes, Pure Zen is a cremesheen and Flamingo is a lusture. I've only ever tried the matte and satin finishes so I was excited to try a new formulation! I will be doing more detailed posts on these so you can see them in more detail!

This is my entire, up to date lipstick collection and as you can see they're all pretty much similar colours but I love them so much!

Pink Plaid, Twig, Brave, Faux, Pure Zen, Velvet Teddy and Flamingo

I know this swatch isnt the best but like I said more detailed posts will be up soon!

Pure Zen, Twig (for comparison), Brave, Faux and Flamingo at the top.
